Barnardo’s Hopscotch Service

Barnardo’s Hopscotch Perth and Kinross supports children and young people who have been impacted by parental/carers alcohol or substance use. We use relationship, trauma informed based approaches to provide individual support to children, young people and to parents and carers on a range of issues that may be impacting on them which may include, loss, change, trauma, bereavement, and understanding addiction and its impact. We know how important it is for children and young people to feel seen, heard, listened to and their feelings acknowledged – our staff will listen and ensure children and young person’s voices are heard.

Services provided:
• One-to-one emotional support sessions in a safe space for the child/ young person/ parent/carer.
• Individual / Family Mentoring, providing practical and emotional support to access supports and services within the community.
• Promote and support understanding of children’s rights and ensure their voices are heard within their support network.
• Promote social opportunities through play and fun activities supported by trained volunteers.
• Tailored Group work on key themes identified by children and young people, families within individual schools/ communities.

Who Barnardo’s Hopscotch Supports:
• Children and young people affected by parental/carers substance use
• Whole Families in need of support who are impacted by substance use.

Referral Requirements:
Our service covers all of Perth and Kinross and anyone can make a direct referral including – self referral, education, health, third sector, social work, housing, adult services.

Operating Hours:
Monday to Friday 9-5 for office support but we can provide direct support evenings and weekends as required.
